The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is a collaborative Living Card Game set in Middle-earth, the fantastical world created by the imaginative mind of J.R.R. Tolkien. Players will form companies to undertake epic quests, travel through dangerous locations, and face fierce enemies like orcs, giant spiders, and the dreaded Nazgûl.

Each player chooses up to three heroes and constructs a deck of cards that represent their strengths, abilities, gear, and allies. During each round, you will have a great variety of options:

• play ally and attachment cards to enhance your heroes.
• assign your characters to quests.
• travel to various locations.
• and defend against enemy attacks before launching your own.

All the while, you must keep your heroes healthy and closely monitor your Threat Level, which is the number representing the influence of the Eye of Sauron against you. This value will increase each round, and if it reaches 50 or your heroes are defeated, you will be eliminated from the game!

Depending on the sphere of influence to which the heroes are tied, a particular play style will be adopted, and the most interesting thing is that you will not be limited to a single sphere when constructing your deck! You can indeed mix and match heroes from different spheres to create your unique deck.

For the most part, the updated base set of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is the same game that countless fans have known and loved for the past ten years, although, just like the novel it is inspired by, it has received a completely new translation by Asmodee Italia. However, this updated base set includes three types of cards that represent an absolute novelty for the game: campaign cards, boons, and burdens.

These types of cards are used in the new campaign mode included in the updated base set. In this mode, players can play the scenarios of the base set in sequential order, and the outcomes of each scenario can influence the result of the next!

Additionally, the package comes with enough components to support up to four players.
