Take on the role of the iconic X-Men and collaborate to thwart the ultimate plan of a powerful criminal controlled by the game or another player.
Each criminal gradually reveals their peculiar plan through specific cards that trigger different effects and threats that present various challenges to the heroes in different and famous locations.
The heroes must carefully choose the cards to play from their unique decks, which not only offer different actions and superpowers to use but also combine with the actions of other heroes to accomplish the impossible. Create your story, unite your powers, and save the world!
The basic mechanics are the same as Marvel United but here we find some new features:
- Antiheroes (purple miniatures) that can be used both as heroes and as criminals (e.g. Mystique and Magneto).
- A mechanic that delays or advances the turn of the criminal (slow/fast criminal).
- A new super-criminal mode to play competitively and up to 5 players! One impersonates the criminal against the other heroes and each will have specific assigned cards (superhero cards and super-criminal cards).
- Optionally, even though the setting might fall apart, you are free to combine the two boxes.

The Criminal always goes first, with their actions managed by the Ultimate Plan Deck: depending on the card drawn and placed as the start of the Story, the Criminal can move from one location to another, apply effects that harm the heroes in various ways (called BAM! EFFECT!), or add other Villains and/or Civilians even in adjacent locations.
The Heroes, on the other hand, commit to trying to defeat the supervillain to win the game! However, in order to directly damage the Criminal, the Heroes must first complete at least 2 of the 3 available Missions, which include safeguarding Civilians and/or defeating Villains. After drawing from their deck, the active player adds a card to the Story that will determine the actions they can perform: the actions can be Attack, Move, or Intervene, to save a Civilian or thwart a Threat.
There are also Wild actions and some cards with different Special Effects for each Hero.
Every time 3 Hero cards have been added to the Story and resolved, a new Ultimate Plan card is drawn from the deck, added to the end of the Story, and resolved. By completing the first Mission, the Criminal will go under pressure and will play their turn after just 2 Hero cards! By completing the second Mission, the Heroes can attack the Criminal directly. The Heroes are not required to complete the third Mission as, if they manage to remove all Health Tokens from the Criminal's Board, they have won the game! If, however, the Criminal meets the conditions of the Evil Plot described on their Board, if they have no more cards in their Ultimate Deck, or if a player starts their turn with no cards in hand and in their Hero Deck, the game ends, and the players are defeated!
