A brave Hero has silently reached the final level of a deadly dungeon, finding an invaluable treasure. Great, now he just has to get out alive! The Dark Lord has finally noticed the presence of the intruder and has unleashed a horde of terrible monsters into the dungeon, there’s just one small problem, his monsters are extremely shy! In order to attack the Hero, they will need to be in a comfortable place with no other monsters nearby, so the Hero's escape seems easier than expected… or not?
Shy Monsters is an asymmetric bluffing game in which one player builds a labyrinthine dungeon while the other tries to escape alive. The Dark Lord commands a group of shy monsters that will only attack the Hero if they are in their preferred position in the dungeon. The Hero has only one way to escape unscathed, by reading between the lines of his antagonist's evil schemes to avoid or defeat every monster in the dungeon. Who will prevail in this thrilling duel to the last step?
A deadly plan
The Dark Lord has the three levels of his dungeon at his disposal to prevent the Hero from escaping. During his turn, he must secretly place the tiles available to him to facilitate the Hero's encounter with one of his terrible Monsters, hiding behind them the access to the next levels. One wrong move and the Hero will remain forever within the dungeon, that knight has no escape MUAHAHHAHAHAH!
Salvation one step at a time
The Hero cannot afford mistakes; one wrong step on a tile with an active Monster and his escape will be halted forever. The first levels of the dungeon are facilitated by the revelation of some tiles, which, with good intuition, could aid in the escape. Besides this, the Hero's only weapons are an Attack and a Jump per level of the dungeon, and after those are used up, he will only have his courage… so much courage, will it be enough for the escape?
Is anyone there?
Besides being deadly, the Dark Lord's Monsters have a decidedly unusual trait for Monsters: they are extremely shy. In order to attack the Hero, should he encounter them, they need to be positioned in a room that satisfies them, a place where they feel comfortable to express their full potential. Furthermore, they detest being watched while devouring their victims and will not attack if positioned near another Monster that could spy on them.
