Dragon Delves: An Adventure Anthology is an impressive collection of 10 adventures dedicated to those formidable and frightening creatures that are dragons. The beating heart of the fantasy imagination of D&D, everyone has heard tales of adventurers in the presence of a majestic dragon, or have experienced a similar event firsthand, from which they emerged changed or did not emerge at all.

Some worship them, others fight them, others seduce them: the ways to confront a dragon are innumerable, just as innumerable as the types of dragons you can find in the legendary world of D&D. Among these adventures, you can find yourself face to face with 10 unique chromatic and metallic dragons in temperament, alignment, and magical abilities, from the copper dragon, through the gold dragon, to the red dragon.

It is not easy to capture in an illustration the majesty of these draconic creatures, but the 10 illustrators and 7 cartographers who contributed to the creation of this manual, to characterize and give a unique artistic style to each dragon, have done a superb job. Additionally, to truly breathe the atmosphere of Dungeons & Dragons, you can lose yourself in the gallery of illustrations dedicated to dragons in the history of RPGs.

Each adventure can be played as a standalone, included in a campaign devised by the Dungeon Master, or experienced one after another in a campaign totally devoted to dragons. If you decide to set off alone to face a dragon in a one-on-one encounter, 3 of the adventures can be played solo.

In this rich manual, you will find:

  • 10 dragon-themed adventures, playable individually or as part of a campaign from 1st to 12th level
  • gallery of illustrations of dragons from the history of D&D
  • Unique maps and NPCs for each adventure
  • Quick guides and step-by-step preparations priceless for the Dungeon Master, ideal for diving quickly into the proposed draconic adventures
  • Stickers and 22 pre-filled maps usable on D&D Beyond with Maps, VTT 2D

Dragons and Dungeons!

Dungeons & Dragons is a name that truly needs no introduction. A game that has hundreds of imitators, that defined a genre, and year after year has become more and more present in popular culture. If today we can talk about Role-Playing Games, both paper-based and digital, it is solely thanks to D&D, its creators, and its rules. The father of all RPGs is still the most played tabletop role-playing game in existence, and long ago it stepped out of its niche of super-enthusiasts to become a product known even to the general public, spawning several noteworthy phenomena, such as the wildly successful series Critical Role and - in Italy - Luxastra.

Dungeons & Dragons was created in 1974 from the minds of Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, who, by founding the Tactical Studies Rules (the legendary TSR) and inspired by the wargames of the time, published the game in its original form and subsequent iterations, until the intellectual property was acquired by Wizards of the Coast, the parent company of the collectible card game giant Magic: the Gathering. Since its first version, D&D has evolved, through several editions that have, over time (with highs and lows), refined its dynamics and philosophy, culminating in the Fifth Edition, the most popular ever, which has managed to unite old guard and new generations, pushing this product's popularity skyward!

But Dungeons & Dragons has also been an important vehicle for imagination. Drawing inspiration not only from classic fantasy, but also from some of the most popular authors of the seventies (and most beloved by the creators of D&D, like Jack Vance, Fritz Leiber, Michael Moorcock...), it has served as the foundation for endless stories and diverse worlds, some of which have been published by TSR first and by WoTC later, reaching notable significance. This is the case of the Forgotten Realms, the current "standard" setting of the game, and where famous video games like Neverwinter Nights or the Baldur's Gate series are set. It has also been the case for RavenloftGrayhawkEberron and Dragonlance, among many others, that over time have left a mark on the minds of players (and not just players: famously, there are also the books by R.A. Salvatore and the duo Weis-Hickman).

Specifically, Dungeons & Dragons is a storytelling game where a special player, the Dungeon Master, presents the others with an adventure and a series of events to tackle. The goal is to write a story together in an heroic fantasy style, filled with elves, dwarves, dragons, giants, demons, angels, and other mythical creatures. A story perhaps full of dangers and traps, but also of treasures, dungeons, secrets, and glory... or perhaps none of these: because with D&D imagination is the only limit. The DM proposes whatever they desire (within the few limits dictated by the rules) and the other players (with their personalized characters) face everything as they wish. Those unaccustomed to this type of pastime will immediately be amazed by the vast array of possibilities that this game (and its ilk) offer.

In short: this title still confirms itself as the greatest Role-Playing Game of all time. Many aspiring monster hunters have ventured into the imagination of their Masters, and by now the number of monster heads rolling down those paths cannot even be counted. Densely populated dungeons have been explored and re-explored, ancient kingdoms mapped, and cruel nations dethroned of their dark lords. The rules of the game have been studied and manipulated, discussed and reinvented by the players, but through it all, the desire to explore and discover new dimensions in the world's most popular hobby has not abated.
